    BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Dominican Republic citizen has been sentenced after helping move people illegally across the U.S.-Canada border. Luis Davis German Soriano, 32, was sentenced Thursday to time served—about 15 months—by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo.  After Soriano was sentenced, he was handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Western District of New York's Office, the initial incident began on January 3, 2024.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Police are investigating a shooting late Wednesday night. Police were called to Greenfield Street just before midnight. Officers say they found a 49-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his right leg.  Officers applied a tourniquet at the scene, and the victim was taken to ECMC by ambulance.  His current condition is unknown at this time. No word yet on the motive or if police have any suspects in connection to the shooting.

    SYRACUSE, N.Y. — New York State continues to add more concerts to its lineup for The Great New York State Fair. The Fair starts Wednesday, August 20, and runs through Labor Day, Monday, September 1. Tickets for the Great New York State Fair, go on sale later this summer and will cost  $8 for adults, children under 12, and senior citizens aged 65 and older are free.  Concerts are free to those who purchase admission to the Fair. Seating is first come, first served basis.

    ALBANY, N.Y. — Summer is just around the corner, and so are high temperatures. For some people, especially the elderly and families with small children, the heat and humidity can worsen symptoms for any medical conditions they might have. “High temperatures and humidity in the summer pose a grave threat to those with certain medical conditions, as well as older adults and young children,”New York Governor Kathy Hochul said in a release.

    WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. — The SPCA Serving Erie County Investigations team rescued several dogs from a home in Williamsville on Monday, and eight more dogs were brought to the SPCA Tuesday. Officials says the dogs, which appear to be Shih Tzu/Poodle mixes, were living in deplorable conditions. The SPCA says the dogs were covered in urine and feces, and that their fur matted. The dogs will have to be sedated and shaved.
