At 10:08 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7, West Parry Sound OPP is on the scene of a rollover on Highway 124 in McDougall Township. The driver was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Police are asking for drivers to avoid the area if possible, as the highway will need to be closed for removal of the vehicle. A detour is available for drivers via Kirkham Road.

On Tuesday, Dec. 5, the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre project team presented an update on the facility to Bracebridge general committee, which included a request for another $2.9 million for an unforeseen redesign and construction of the stormwater management pond. Construction is progressing on schedule and is 67 per cent complete, with the building slated to open in the summer 2024.

On Saturday, Dec. 2, Bracebridge OPP and Bracebridge Auxiliary Unit attended Canadian Tire locations in Bracebridge and Gravenhurst and the Bracebridge Walmart for the annual Stuff-a-Cruiser OPP Toy Drive. UPDATE (3:42 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4): A blue-green algae alert has been lifted for Three Mile Lake, including Hammell's Bay, in the Township of Muskoka Lakes, and for the southwest shoreline of Stewart Lake in the Township of Georgian Bay. This leaves four active blue-green algae alerts in Muskoka. As of Tuesday, Oct. 10, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit had issued seven blue-green algae advisories in six Muskoka waterways in 2023, including a second alert for Three Mile Lake in Utterson.
