    MOUNTAIN VIEW — The Mtn. View-Birch Tree School Board recently celebrated the official opening of a new facility donated by Simmons Bank in Mtn. View, including administrative offices and furnishings and a 1,200 square foot storage building, located on Elm Street between Simmons Bank and Mtn. View Elementary School. Mtn. View-Birch Tree Superintendent Lanna Tharp said the district been in the building since July and worked since then to get the finishing touches in place prior to the ribbon cutting.

    Two men have been charged in incidents that reportedly happened at almost the same time over the weekend at local businesses, each involving threats with a firearm. Damian P. Henry, 24, West Plains, is charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon by exhibiting it in a threatening manner, and is held on $50,000 bond, according to court records.

    A Willow Springs resident has been charged with three counts of stealing a motor vehicle and one count of stealing $750 or more after investigation into a suspicious fire and the discovery of utility vehicles and a camper that had been reported stolen. Brandon M. Murphy, 35, was arrested April 6 and is held on $100,000 bond, and entered a not guilty plea April 15 before Presiding 37th Circuit Judge Steve Privette.

    Prolific creator of West Plains murals Dr. Bolaji Ogunwo recently unveiled his latest painting, "Let There Be Light," at the West Plains Public Library and was presented with a proclamation from West Plains Mayor Mike Topliff for his contributions to the community and library. Ogunwo's works may also be seen locally inside the Lincoln School on Pony Thomas Street and Christos House on Jefferson Avenue, and on outer walls in Luyster Arcade, south of 14 Court Square.
