BOSTON (WHDH) - BOSTON (AP) — A Tufts University student from Turkey returned to Boston on Saturday, one day after being released from a Louisiana immigration detention center where she was held for over six weeks. Upon arrival at Logan Airport, Rumeysa Ozturk told reporters she was excited to get back to her studies during what has been a “very difficult” period. “In the last 45 days, I lost both my freedom and also my education during a crucial time for my doctoral studies,” she said.

BOSTON (WHDH) - Boston police are investigating a shooting in Dorchester late Friday night that left a man dead, officials said. Officers responding to a reported shooting in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Georgia Street around 11 p.m. found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Boston police. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released.

WESTWOOD, MASS. (WHDH) - Hundreds of thousands of people converged on the Vatican Saturday to bid farewell to Pope Francis — including a teacher from Massachusetts. John Guinan is the dean of students and a church history teacher at Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood. When he realized Francis’ funeral would coincide with April vacation week, he hopped on a plane and headed to Rome.

CONCORD, MASS. (WHDH) - Reenactors representing members of the Concord militia cross the Old North Bridge on Saturday just as brave men did 250 years ago when they prepared to face down the British Army. Earlier in the morning, bells rang throughout the town to warn of the approaching British. A parade commemorating the Battles of Lexington and Concord will be held Saturday, with people marching 3 miles through Concord and over the bridge before Gov. Maura Healey delivers a speech.
