SANDWICH, MASS. (WHDH) - Dozens of whales were spotted swimming off the coast of Cape Cod Tuesday afternoon. SKY7-HD flew above the pod of North Atlantic right whales returning to Cape Cod Bay. The whales are migrating from Florida, the Mid-Atlantic, Maine, and Canada in order to feed. “It’s a spring plankton bloom that happens every year and they know how to find it and show up here, so it’s pretty cool,” said Amy Knowlton, senior scientist at the New England Aquarium.

(WHDH) - A high-stakes hearing in Vermont about the Tufts student detained by federal authorities wrapped Monday afternoon, drawing a sea of supporters for the woman facing deportation. Supporters of Rumeysa Ozturk gathered outside a federal courthouse in Burlington hoping to send a clear message with their demonstration. ICE arrested Ozturk near her Somerville home; she was taken to Vermont, then moved to Louisiana, where she is currently being held.

DOVER, MASS. (WHDH) - The former Dover doctor accused of strangling his wife testified on Tuesday at his own trial and admitted to getting rid of her body. Prosecutors say Tuerk strangled his wife, Kathleen McLean, in their home in 2020. Tuerk was once the Chief of Urology at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston. While testifying, Tuerk said the two got into an argument while drinking and she hit him with a glass. Tuerk says he “snapped” and grabbed her by the neck.

DOVER, MASS. (WHDH) - A former Dover doctor who was once the Chief of Urology at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton admitted to killing his wife and getting rid of her body in a pond. Ingolf Tuerk, 63, strangled his third wife Kathleen McLean in their home in 2020. He recounted the night McLean saw a text from another woman and hit him over the head with a glass. SOMERVILLE, MASS. (WHDH) - Protestors pushed their way onto a Tufts University stage as Congressman Seth Moulton was set to speak about the state of the government. The group of four demonstrators held a banner with the message “Protect free speech, free Rumeysa Ozturk.” Ozturk is a Turkish National studying at Tufts. She was taken into custody by Federal Agents in Somerville last month. Home security footage captured the incident. The video sparked outrage.
Boston Inspectional Services provides update on Chinatown box truck crash

BOSTON (WHDH) - Boston Inspectional Services, along with local contractors, were in Chinatown assessing the damage after a box truck flipped off the road Tuesday and grazed a Kneeland Street building. “It was basically skidding right down the sidewalk,” said Boston Building Inspector Ralph Kurpeski. “Just barely touched the building.”Tora Ramen Restaurant took the brunt of the incident. 7NEWS was given a look inside, where a window shattered on two customers sitting at a table.

BOSTON (WHDH) - A truck hit several pedestrians in Boston’s Chinatown Tuesday afternoon, sending four people to the hospital, officials said. At around 12:48 p.m., officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash involving pedestrians at the intersection of Kneeland Street and Harrison Avenue, according to Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox. Two of the four people hospitalized — including the driver — were in critical condition, Boston EMS said in an X post.
