NEW BEDFORD, MASS. (WHDH) - A New Bedford woman described the moment she and her husband were pulled from their car by federal immigration agents Monday. Juan Francisco Mendez, 29, was arrested in New Bedford. His wife, Marilu Domingo Ortiz, said she and Mendez were pulled over on Tallman Street.

SANDWICH, MASS. (WHDH) - Dozens of whales were spotted swimming off the coast of Cape Cod Tuesday afternoon. SKY7-HD flew above the pod of North Atlantic right whales returning to Cape Cod Bay. The whales are migrating from Florida, the Mid-Atlantic, Maine, and Canada in order to feed. “It’s a spring plankton bloom that happens every year and they know how to find it and show up here, so it’s pretty cool,” said Amy Knowlton, senior scientist at the New England Aquarium.

MEDFORD, MASS. (WHDH) - A high-stakes hearing in Vermont about the Tufts student detained by federal authorities wrapped Monday afternoon, drawing a sea of supporters for the woman facing deportation. Supporters of Rumeysa Ozturk gathered outside a federal courthouse in Burlington hoping to send a clear message with their demonstration. ICE arrested Ozturk near her Somerville home; she was taken to Vermont, then moved to Louisiana, where she is currently being held.
