May 28-Fairfax plans to skip a full-blown downtown parking study in favor of less expensive option: staff and community legwork. The Town Council, which held a discussion on the issue at its meeting on May 21, decided it lacked the funds for a comprehensive examination of parking and circulation. "In a perfect world, I would like to see a utilization study where we actually looked at turnover and actually assess whether we had enough parking," Mayor Lisel Blash said.

Three more jurisdictions in Marin are following the county’s lead to tighten electric-bicycle regulations for youths. Larkspur, Corte Madera and Fairfax all adopted a regulation last week that bans riders under 16 years old on class 2 e-bikes. The new rule was prompted by a rise in e-bike accidents among youths. “We do know with data that e-bikes pose a very heightened safety risk to young riders,” Talia Smith, a county policy director, said at the Fairfax Town Council meeting on May 21.
