CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - West Virginia’s Department of Human Services this week launched a new project centered on how decisions are made by those who answer calls into the state’s child abuse and neglect hotline. Cabinet Secretary Cynthia Persily went so far to call it “a pivotal first step toward establishing” an alternative path to provide assistance to children whose situations may not meet the legal definition of abuse or neglect.

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – The Secretary of West Virginia Department of Transportation was pulled over Tuesday, Feb. 20 for ‘driving erratically’, according to the Charleston Police Department. Around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, officers with the Charleston Police Department received a call that an off-duty West Virginia State trooper witnessed and was currently following a driver traveling erratically on the east end of Charleston.
