PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) - The trial against a Bucks County man accused of murdering a Temple University police officer more than two years ago is set to begin Monday. Miles Pfeffer faces first-degree murder charges in the death of Temple University Police Officer Christopher Fitzgerald, a beloved father, husband and son. On Feb. 18, 2023, 31-year-old Fitzgerald was on patrol near 17th Street and Montgomery Avenue when he noticed three males dressed in black looking suspicious.

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) - One of the suspects known as the "Beef Bandits" - arrested last September for stealing beef from a tractor-trailer in the Holmesburg section of Philadelphia - has made a deal with prosecutors. Douglas Mathis pleaded guilty on Tuesday to theft, conspiracy and evading arrest, among other charges. In the deal with prosecutors, he was sentenced to time served, followed by up to two years in prison with probation.

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) - Authorities are looking for a suspect who shot a man earlier this week outside an after-hours club in North Philadelphia. It happened around 6:30 a.m. on June 7 at a club near Venango Street and Rising Sun Avenue. In surveillance video released by police on Tuesday, a man is seen casually walking and firing a gun behind him, striking a 41-year-old man. The suspect drove off in a silver Dodge Avenger.

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) - A city judge has upheld murder charges against a man accused of killing a Philadelphia police officer last year. Sniffles and sobs were heard as prosecutors played body camera footage from 31-year-old Jaime Roman's uniform. On June 22, 2024, Roman and his partner pulled over Ramon Rodriguez Vasquez around 8 p.m. near Tioga and F streets in Kensington. In his car were a few passengers. For about 20 minutes, the interaction remained calm, and Vasquez complied.

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) - Pennsylvania State Police are looking for the driver who shot at another during a road rage incident Monday morning on I-95 northbound. It happened around 5 a.m. between Aramingo and Cottman avenues. Authorities said the driver of an older maroon Honda Civic fired four rounds at a 51-year-old man driving alongside him. His car was struck, but the victim was not injured. He was able to get away from the gunfire and exit the highway.
