A petition has been created in an effort to halt city officials' plan to change nine blocks within Pittsburgh's historic Strip District as additional construction projects remain active in the area. Business owners in the Strip District have voiced opposition to the city's construction design. The design plans to convert nine blocks along Penn Avenue by condensing two lanes into one and adding a bike lane, all while maintaining parking on both sides of the street.

An interactive, musical storytelling show is heading to Pittsburgh Sunday, providing participants with the opportunity to sing, dance, and play along to bring the story to life. "Enchanted Melodies: An Interactive Fairytale Opera," is a two-person show described as an enchanted time of musical storytelling. It was created by Emily Gallagher, who also plays the princess in the performance. "The show premiered in New York in June of last year," Gallagher told Pittsburgh's Action News 4.

Pine-Richland High School students are distributing free copies of "Angel of Greenwood" after the school board voted against including the book in the ninth-grade curriculum. "This is 'Angel of Greenwood,' and it's about the Tulsa race massacre, where a bunch of kind of white supremacists and KKK terrorized the black community and killed and burned down the community," said Elise Duckworth, an 11th-grade student at Pine Richland High School.

Valentine's Day is coming up, and the social services organization Cancer Bridges hosted its annual dinner Wednesday night. People who have been affected by cancer gathered in the Strip District for the celebration. Attendees shared that events like this can help people get through tough times. "You feel comfortable," Bertha Kowach said.

Pittsburgh's figure skating community is mourning the loss of friends and colleagues who died in a plane crash Wednesday night. "The skaters that were on that plane were some of the most incredible skaters that I've ever seen. And their loss will be felt for a very, very long time," said Sara Sebring, a 16-year-old Pittsburgh-area figure skater. Sebring has been figure skating since kindergarten and currently trains at the Robert Morris University Island Sports Center in Allegheny County.
