The North Texas Municipal Water District is temporarily changing its water treatment disinfectant starting Monday, a routine measure aimed at maintaining water quality and preparing pipes for the summer months. Until March 31, the district will use chlorine alone instead of its usual mix of chlorine and ammonia. Officials say the water will remain safe to drink and continue to meet all health standards, though residents may notice a stronger chlorine taste or smell.

The Cowtown Marathon returns this weekend for its 47th annual race, bringing thousands of runners and spectators to the city. The event benefits The C.A.L.F. With the potential for subzero wind chills in the region, animal advocates are urging pet owners to be cautious. Even if your dog loves the cold and may be built for it like Huskys, Saint Bernards but for others like Chihuahuas, the cold is just not it. Daniel Alvarado with Dallas Animal Services says some breeds are not built for this. The extreme cold can put pets at risk for frostbite and hypothermia, especially during outdoor activities.
