A study of the proposed Cameron Meadows housing development in Cameron Park is under way. Plans for the 104-acre site enjoyed as open space and known to local residents as Rasmussen Pond are a 161-lot subdivision of mostly single-family homes, and 16 accessory dwelling units to serve as affordable housing. An environmental impact report is in preparation and El Dorado County will be taking comments on the project through 5 p.m. March 5.

Looking for answers as to how a snowboarder was left inside a gondola the night of Jan. 25, Heavenly Mountain Resort management found a "breakdown in protocols."Monica Laso, a Chilean woman on vacation with a group of friends, spent the day snowboarding at the South Lake Tahoe ski resort. She reportedly became exhausted and took a gondola bound for Heavenly Village, where she thought she would meet back up with her friends.

No one thought to look up when 10-week-old pup Luna went missing Sunday morning. It wasn't until the next day the German Shepherd-Labrador mix was spotted about 35 feet high perched between branches of a grey pine tree on her owner Becky and Brian Spies' Lotus property. Becky described Luna as "always by (her) side," so when she didn't come when called after being let out at 7 a.m., a search of the Spies' 10 acres off Clark Mountain Road began.
