WINSLOW, Ariz. — Angus Prine, 26, of Winslow, Arizona, was sentenced in Navajo County Superior Court to 15 years in prison for burglary, aggravated assault, and misconduct involving weapons, March 5. During the early hours of Dec. 5, 2023, Prine entered a private residence, kicked open a bedroom door and jumped on a 30-year-old Winslow man who was asleep in the bed with Prine’s ex-girlfriend.

A man sought by authorities on a $500,000 warrant since 2022 was indicted last week in connection with the fatal fentanyl overdose of a Crystal Lake man nearly two years ago, court records show. Rickiy Bell, 35, of Freeport, is charged with drug-induced homicide, a Class X felony, according to the criminal complaint and indictment filed in McHenry County court. If convicted, Bell faces up to 30 years in prison.

Ottawa is seeking civic-minded volunteers to serve in the community. Volunteer opportunities include maintaining landscaping throughout downtown and in parks, serving on boards or commissions, assisting with events and being involved in local organizations. Mayor Robert Hasty is hosting a workshop at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 4, in City Hall Council Chambers, 301 W. Madison St. to acquaint city residents of volunteering opportunities with the city of Ottawa and not-for-profit organizations.

The village of Plainfield and Waste Management will be sponsoring spring cleanup for residents during the week of April 8. Residents can place household refuse, bulk items (i.e., chairs, couches and mattresses wrapped in plastic), and white goods (i.e., refrigerators, washers, dryers and water heaters) at the curb on their regular pickup day, according to a release from the village. Have all materials at the curb by 6 a.m. on your collection day.
