A Chicago man who was on parole when he was accused of multiple thefts – including stealing Christmas presents from a Crystal Lake church – pleaded guilty Wednesday to burglary from a vehicle. George J. Ashetzie, 68, was sentenced to five years in prison, of which he is ordered to serve half. He will get credit for 322 days spent in jail. His prison time will be followed by six months of mandatory supervised release, according to an order signed by Judge Tiffany Davis filed in McHenry County court.

A Wauconda man charged by Crystal Lake police with drug offenses has pleaded guilty and was sentenced to eight years in prison. Dylan Stanley McLean, 25, entered guilty pleas to unlawful possession with intent to deliver alprazolam and unlawful possession of ammunition by a felon, according documents filed in McHenry County court. He was sentenced to eight years on each charge and is required to serve half the time.

Attorneys for a McHenry woman have filed a motion aiming to dismiss the charge that she murdered her husband more than 20 years ago in Wisconsin. Roxanna Collins, 70, was then Roxanna Vanderzee when authorities allege she and John Viskocil, 70, her suspected boyfriend at the time, killed her new husband David Vanderzee.

A woman whose 14-year-old son died after overdosing on her fentanyl in his father’s Richmond home – and who hid from police as paramedics tried to save the teen – was sentenced Friday to 14 years in prison. Cara Ullrich, 46, and Eric Ullrich, 52, each pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of their son Trent after they initially were charged with murder. Eric Ullrich was sentenced to 12 years in prison after four days of testimony.

Though he not in the courtroom, a Chicago man was sentenced to 19 years in prison Thursday for the 2019 fatal overdoses of a Harvard man and a woman who died in Algonquin. Rufus McGee, 34, pleaded guilty in November to unlawful manufacturing and delivery of one to 15 grams of fentanyl in connection with the death of Robert Gibson, 45, of Harvard, and was sentenced to 13 years in prison. He also pleaded guilty to drug-induced homicide in the death of Shannon D.
