Pennsylvania hunters would have more weekend chances to pursue their quarry, under a proposal sent Tuesday to the state House of Representatives for consideration. The House Game & Fisheries Committee reported out House Bill 1431 for a floor vote. It would repeal the prohibition on Sunday hunting in the state Game Code. If it becomes law, the Pennsylvania Game Commission would set the Sundays when hunting would be permitted throughout the year.

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced the death of a forest district maintenance supervisor whose territory extended into the Pocono Mountains. Dave Warfel was assigned to Weiser State Forest, which encompasses 30,000 acres in Carbon and six other counties. He died Thursday at the Wildland Fire Academy at Shippensburg University, following a day spent instructing and mentoring wildland firefighters.

A historic 62-acre property along Bethlehem’s northern border will be preserved as the new home of the Industrial Archives & Library. The independent archival nonprofit currently based at 18 W. Fourth St. on Southside Bethlehem announced Friday it had received the donation of the property at Santee Mill and Altonah roads along the border with Bethlehem Township. Plans call for modifications to the interiors of some of the land’s eight structures to accommodate the archives.
