Uber driver shot, carjacked in Philadelphia's Poplar neighborhood A man who drives for Uber in Philadelphia was shot and carjacked along Fairmount Avenue early Thursday morning, police said. The 58-year-old driver picked up two passengers on the 900 block of Fairmount, who then announced a robbery once they got inside the car, Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said. One of the men brandished a gun and fired at least two shots, which hit the driver in the chest and arm.

A Temple University student was shot and killed and another is in custody after what police suspect is a drug-related shooting. Philadelphia police said the shooting happened after 11 p.m. Thursday on the 1500 block of North Carlisle Street, near the Temple Nest off-campus apartments. When police arrived on the scene they found a 20-year-old man in the street between two parked cars.

A 92-year-old woman who was reported missing on Sunday was found dead in her neighborhood days later, according to Philadelphia police. The woman, who suffered from dementia, was reported missing from the Wynnefield section of West Philadelphia. Then around 4 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to the 1700 block of Georges Lane for a report of an elderly woman found dead, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.
