Uber driver shot, carjacked in Philadelphia's Poplar neighborhood A man who drives for Uber in Philadelphia was shot and carjacked along Fairmount Avenue early Thursday morning, police said. The 58-year-old driver picked up two passengers on the 900 block of Fairmount, who then announced a robbery once they got inside the car, Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said. One of the men brandished a gun and fired at least two shots, which hit the driver in the chest and arm.

A Temple University student was shot and killed and another is in custody after what police suspect is a drug-related shooting. Philadelphia police said the shooting happened after 11 p.m. Thursday on the 1500 block of North Carlisle Street, near the Temple Nest off-campus apartments. When police arrived on the scene they found a 20-year-old man in the street between two parked cars.

A 92-year-old woman who was reported missing on Sunday was found dead in her neighborhood days later, according to Philadelphia police. The woman, who suffered from dementia, was reported missing from the Wynnefield section of West Philadelphia. Then around 4 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to the 1700 block of Georges Lane for a report of an elderly woman found dead, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

1 dead after car crashes into home on Broad Street in Philadelphia A woman was killed and a man and child were injured after a crash into the front porch of a home on North Broad Street on Thursday. Police said the crash happened close to midnight on the 6200 block of North Broad Street. A driver of a 2008 Nissan was heading south on Broad past Chelten Avenue when she made a hard left turn and accelerated the car, hitting a raised porch on the block.

Police are searching for a single suspect who may have fired over 50 shots in a shooting that injured seven people in North Philadelphia. The shooting happened just after 3:30 a.m. Saturday. Police set up two crime scenes – one on the 2500 block of North Jessup Street and a second around the corner at 11th and Cumberland streets. One of the victims is a 17-year-old girl who was shot in the chest. All were taken to Temple University Hospital.

Woman killed in hit-and-run near Fairmount Park in Philadelphia Police are searching for a driver who struck and killed a woman in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park early Tuesday morning. The woman was found on the 2200 block of Reservoir Drive, near Diamond Drive, just before 2 a.m.The victim was thrown about 100 feet from the impact, which led investigators to believe the driver was going at a high speed, Chief Inspector Scott Small said at the scene.

A fire at a Bensalem, Pennsylvania strip mall has shut down a section of Bristol Pike, Bucks County dispatchers said. Firefighters were called to the Andalusia Bar and Grill in a strip mall on Bristol Pike, a few blocks off Woodhaven Road, around 4 a.m. Thursday. The fire has spread to additional businesses and several fire trucks and other emergency vehicles are stationed on Bristol Pike. The road is closed in both directions from Tennis Avenue to Woodhaven Road.
