LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Thursday is a First Alert Weather Day as an Extreme Heat Warning continues for the desert and valley areas throughout Southern Nevada. The warning lasts through 10 PM Thursday. Afternoon highs will climb to 5 to 10 degrees above average to around 110°. Typically, highs this time of year are closer to 100°F. In addition, heightened fire weather danger returns to Southern Nevada.

The FOX 5 viewing area remains under a Wind Advisory, now extended to 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Northerly wind gusts up to 55 mph are expected to blow throughout the night Thursday, before lessening in intensity through Friday afternoon. Temperatures will be impacted, with highs well below the normal range.

Friday gusts will peak to the 30-35 mph range, before backing off just in time for the weekend. Highs will then push into the low 70s by Sunday!The warming will continue into mid-week, as high pressure takes over. Highs will remain in the low 70s through at least Tuesday, before the next area of low pressure brings shower chances and increasing wind speeds back to Southern Nevada next week. Don’t forget to set clocks forward an hour before you head to bed Saturday evening.
