    In a recent letter, Ketta Brown said a quality superintendent candidate will avoid any district without unanimous board support. I can’t find any data or studies to support that—even on the Leadership Associates website. Why assume there will be a “split vote”? Does she know something we don’t? What if the candidate is a superstar, highly experienced, or just the perfect fit? Is the board minority set to vote “no” regardless? Unity works both ways. Sure, a 5-0 vote is great—when it happens.

    For too many years, the “voice” of Laguna has come from one or two special interest groups that represent a minority of the citizens. Most of the people in Laguna sat on the sidelines and ignored the noise created by these small factions.     A major safety concern for the citizens of Laguna Beach. Most of the residential streets in Laguna have no streetlights and no sidewalks. After dusk, this lack poses very real danger to people walking, your pets and all bicycle riders. For some unknown reason, almost everyone walking around out there is wearing black. I realize that while black may be thought chic, one simply becomes invisible to drivers in this situation. This makes it terrifying for everyone.
