Play Airlines, the low-cost Icelandic airline that is one of the only commercial carriers at New York Stewart International Airport, has canceled North American flights starting this fall amid a takeover that will see it cease operations on the continent. The stoppage is part of a series of changes that two of Play’s largest shareholders included in a plan to take over the airline, according to an announcement Play shared on June 9.

LAGRANGEVILLE — An Arlington High School employee has been charged with having inappropriate physical contact with three students after a month-long investigation, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday. Deputies said in a news release that Robert J. Siniscalchi, 68, of Hyde Park, was arrested and charged on Tuesday for the allegedly inappropriate encounters that occurred during the 2024-2025 school year.

GOSHEN — John Reilly III, Chester’s highway superintendent, has been arraigned on an indictment charging him with attempted murder for allegedly shooting a lost DoorDash driver as he left Reilly’s home last month. Reilly, 48, was arraigned before Orange County Court Judge Craig S. Brown on Monday morning, weeks after the Orange County District Attorney’s Office confirmed a grand jury indicted him on 13 charges. He pleaded not guilty.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has taken down a list of “sanctuary jurisdictions” that included 15 New York counties accused of defying federal immigration laws. The reversal follows widespread pushback over the list, which targeted states, counties and cities the agency claimed had “sanctuary” policies that limit local cooperation with federal immigration enforcement.
