Botterill long wait for another opportunity ended Tuesday when he was named executive vice president and general manager of the NHL's Seattle Kraken.

Jake Vernon, a longtime executive with the NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves and WNBA's Lynx, joined the Sabres as chief commercial officer, the team announced Tuesday in a press release. Vernon will oversee ticketing and sponsorship operations for the Sabres, as well as the team's business intelligence department. He spent the past 12 season with the Timberwolves and Lynx, most recently serving as chief sales officer.

Only two games remained in their season when Lindy Ruff met last week with several players who are viewed as the Buffalo Sabres' leadership group. They laid out what what the team needed to accomplish, and where it needed to see improvement, before everyone went their separate ways for another long offseason. The meeting wasn't the first of its kind.

Kevyn Adams met individually with each of his players over the span of two days to evaluate their season with the Buffalo Sabres and provide feedback on how they can improve. The most important meeting of all had yet to occur when Adams and coach Lindy Ruff addressed reporters during a 53-minute news conference late Saturday afternoon in KeyBank Center.

Josh Norris revealed to reporters Saturday morning that a torn oblique muscle prevented him from returning to the Buffalo Sabres' lineup during the final weeks of the season. Norris re-aggravated the injury during his third game with the Sabres, a 7-3 loss in Detroit, and eventually decided that it would be best to sit out the rest of the schedule to allow it to heal.
