An oil company’s controversial efforts to repair and restart the Santa Barbara County pipeline which ruptured in 2015, causing a major oil spill are facing yet another challenge. A coalition of environmental groups filed suit Tuesday against the state agency which plays a key role in overseeing pipeline operations. Sable Offshore Corporation is trying to repair the pipeline which ruptured on the Gaviota Coast in 2015, causing a 140,000 gallon oil spill.

Federal prosecutors say a Ventura County man misrepresented repair work on helicopters, creating potentially dangerous situations by installing used parts that were older than claimed. Prosecutors say Jared Michael Swensen operates an Oxnard company which does maintenance and overall work on helicopters. They say in some cases, he would replace older parts with used parts, which is an accepted practice.

A man who went on a crime spree in Ventura County which included intentionally striking a group of high school students with a car, killing one of them has been sentenced to more than 80 years in state prison. Austin Eis went on a one day crime spree in April of 2023. He attacked two people at a store in Simi Valley, got into a fight with his family in Camarillo, and then hit a group of students from Westlake High School with his car at a bus stop.

An iconic religious and historical artifact is now on display at a Ventura County museum. The oldest know copy of the Ten Commandments has been added to an exhibition at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley. "To date, they have found 30 copies of the Ten Commandments," said Melissa Giller, the Chief Marketing Officer with the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation. "Of the 30 copies they have found, this is the oldest, and it is completely intact.

Tears flowed in a Ventura courtroom Monday, as family members and friends of a teenager who was intentionally struck, and killed by a car confronted the man who was behind the wheel. Wesley Welling’s family, and friends testified as part of sentencing proceedings for Austin Eis. It was two years ago this week that Eis went on a crime spree. Eis attacked some employees at a Wal-Mart store in Simi Valley, and then threatened some family members at their home in Camarillo.
