New today at 8:02 pm Published May 13, 2025 8:09 pm ISLA VISTA, Calif. – A car crash hurt two pedestrians in Isla Vista just before 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department. One pedestrian, both adult females, had major injuries from the crash. The other had minor injuries after being hit by a solo female driver at Camino Pescadero and Sabado Tarde, according to the SBCFD.

CAMARILLO, Calif. – California State University Channel Islands has been recognized by the U.S. State Department as one of the nation's Fulbright Top Producing Institutions for 2024/25. CSU Channel Islands first received the recognition in the 2021/22 cycle and had three faculty members and one administrator earn the coveted Fulbright Scholarship this cycle and is counted in the top three out of 46 master's degree-granting institutions listed in this year's list.

New Published May 12, 2025 3:05 pm SANTA MARGARITA, Calif. – Fire crews mopped up a 15-acre grass fire in Santa Margarita that first broke out just before 12:30 p.m. on Highway 58 Monday, according to CAL Fire SLO. The fire started at an acre near Energy Place and the highway and crews gave updated acreage numbers just before 2:00 p.m, detailed CAL Fire SLO. Forward progress of the incident stopped just past 1:30 p.m and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
