STATELINE, Nev. – It’s been more than 60 years since Barton Health first opened its doors to the South Lake Tahoe community. Since then, both the hospital and the community have grown, and its now overdue for a major upgrade. The current South Lake Tahoe campus offers a mix of outpatient medical offices, ancillary health services (such as laboratory, imaging, and rehabilitation), and Barton Memorial Hospital and its 24-7 emergency department.

AUBURN, Calif. – The Placer County Supervisors approved the purchase of Automated License Plate Recognition technology as part of the district’s North Lake Tahoe Parking Management Plan during their Tuesday, Dec. 3 meeting. In June 2024, they approved the parking management plan to address parking concerns and issues in Kings Beach. As part of the plan, parking employees switched from writing paper tickets to handheld ticketing devices.

Nevada County Supes award contract for Hirschdale Road Bridge replacement

TRUCKEE, Calif. – The Nevada County Board of Supervisors approved contracts for the Hirschdale Road over Truckee River Bridge Replacement Project and the Hirschdale Road at Hinton (UPRR) Overhead Rehabilitation Project during its Tuesday, Nov. 26 meeting. Both bridges have been deemed structurally deficient by the State of California. For the Hirschdale Road over Truckee River project, a temporary bridge will be built next to the existing one. The old bridge will be removed and then rebuilt.

TRUCKEE, Calif. – Truckee Town Council exercised their gratitude muscles during their Tuesday, Nov. 12 meeting. To celebrate Gratitude Month, each council member picked an organization or person which exemplified the Truckee Way. Councilmember Anna Klovstad recognized the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation. Councilmember Lindsay Romack recognized the Send It Foundation. Vice Mayor Jan Zabriskie recognized community member Deirdre Henderon.
Placer County Supervisors approved regional trails system analysis contract

KINGS BEACH, Calif. – The Placer County Supervisors approved appropriation of funds and the execution of a contract for the completion of a North Tahoe Regional Trails System Strategic and Fiscal Analysis. This marks a major step in reaching the goal of connecting all communities in the Tahoe basin by bike path and trail. Andy Fisher, Parks Administrator, presented the item to the board, beginning with a history of the project.
School board approves emergency resolution for North Tahoe High repairs

TAHOE CITY, Calif. – During the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District’s Aug. 14 board meeting, an emergency resolution was approved to repair water damages to the roof and parts of the building at North Tahoe High School. According to Todd Rivera, Assistant Superintendent Chief Business Officer, the district is in the process of doing a re-roofing project at the high school which covers the area over the auditorium and some of the adjacent hallways and classrooms.
