    Two years after public record requests were sought from the Douglas County School District and four board trustees, a final ruling found the trustees “acted within the scope of their duties,” and now the district is responsible for the other $70,000 in attorney fees. Douglas County District Judge Thomas Gregory ruled in an order regarding indemnification on May 29, reversing his preliminary order that trustees were liable for $70,000 of the $153,758 joint and severally with the school district.

Nonpartisans are the biggest voting bloc in the state, according to the Nevada Secretary of State, but they can’t participate in many primaries, like contests for president, U.S. Senate, governor, and county commission. Democratic Assembly Speaker Steve Yeager sponsored the Assembly Bill 597 on Monday.

    Bail was increased to $1 million cash or $2 million bond for a man accused of being drunk during a fatal head-on crash at Lake Tahoe 7 a.m. March 20. Stephen Michael Pawlowski, 64, has been in custody since the crash on $500,000 cash bail. Pawlowski appeared with attorney Alexandra Dyer in Tahoe Township Justice Court on Tuesday. Prosecutor Chelsea Mazza filed a motion to double the bail after prosecutors learned that Pawlowski was on the verge of posting the cash bail.
