    INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. – The Incline High School swim team won its third consecutive meet on Friday, April 18, against Sparks High School. Both the Highlander boys and girls teams won in a dominate showing with numerous personal bests. Sophomore Grant Safford, junior Willimena Dukes and senior William Arrison placed second with their personal bests. Safford’s was in the 100 yard backstroke (1:23.96), Dukes in the 100 yard freestyle (1:13.78) and Arrison in the 50 yard freestyle (25.48).

    STATELINE, Nev. – Denny Waters is entering his next lap around the sun with the accomplishment of skiing over 50,000 vertical feet at Heavenly Ski Resort in just under six hours. He did this on April 3, the day following his 72nd birthday. The vertical feet conquered that day equates to over 1.5 Mount Everests. “In my race days, my best event was downhill racing,” he said.

    PLACER COUNTY, Calif. – Kings Beach, Tahoe City, Homewood, and Alpine Meadows are unincorporated areas and decisions related to those regions are primarily made by county officials, but that could change in the not too distant future. A volunteer committee of residents and business owners, called Eastern Placer Future, are exploring the potential of turning north Lake Tahoe into its own incorporated town or city, much like the Town of Truckee or City of South Lake Tahoe.

    A tentative 2025-26 budget being presented to Douglas County School Board trustees includes a reduction of eight full-time classroom teachers. “These positions will be vacated by resignation or retirement,” Superintendent Frankie Alvarado said on Monday. “However, these are not positions that will be held by employees as of July 1.
