The building once home to Pasco’s longest continuously operating restaurant is now serving up cuisine from another continent. The Chinese food once dished up at 1520 N. Fourth Ave. has given way to south of the border and Southern California favorites, such as loaded carne asada (lime-marinated steak) fries, birria (goat or beef cooked in broth), pollo loco (fire-grilled chicken) and, of course, deep-fried cinnamon encrusted churros with a variety of sauces and sweet toppings.

Peyton Lemmons is like other high school seniors. She enjoys hanging out with her family and friends, walking her dogs, scrolling social media, working in the summer and duck and deer hunting with her dad and younger sister. She also is a budding entrepreneur and often can be found in her dad’s shop on her lathe, shaving down barrels for duck calls. Hunters manipulate the small devices using their breath and hands to create realistic duck sounds designed to lure waterfowl.

Since 1972, Craftsman Cabinets & Flooring has been helping Tri-Citians find and install the cabinetry, countertops and flooring to suit their residential and commercial projects. Shawn Longwell, son of founders Roger and Kathy Longwell, and his wife Juliana decided to sell the family business after 20 years at the helm to David Chavey-Reynaud and his wife, Tori Chavey. “They really vetted us,” Chavey-Reynaud said.

Locally-raised meat can be hard to come by, but one couple is closing that gap with their new Richland shop. Cody and Jen Hoseth, owners of Lone Crow Ranch in Eltopia, opened a storefront at 707 The Parkway last month to sell individual cuts of grain-fed and grass-fed beef and pork raised on their ranch and processed at their plant in Connell. The shop is the former home of Peacock Coffee Roasting, which reopened in October at 910 S.

Visitors to Kennewick’s downtown area can now add wine tasting to their itineraries with the opening of 4 Whistles Winery. The Eltopia-based winery recently moved from the Public Market at Columbia River Warehouse into a roomier space at 119 W. First Ave. “It was always going to just be a stepping stone to get more wine club members, get some exposure, get our name out there and get used to selling wine. We knew we were eventually going to try to get a brick-and-mortar location of our own.
