A former teacher is making history at this year's Chelsea Flower Show - with the event's first-ever funeral flower display. Carole Patilla, from Bournville, Birmingham, gave up her classroom career to become a florist and specialises in alternative, less traditional funeral arrangements. She said she hoped people at Chelsea would be "wowed" by the beauty of the display, rather than distracted by the fact it has been designed with funerals in mind.

A statue paying tribute to one of rock music's most enduring and flamboyant frontmen is due to be unveiled in his hometown of Stoke-on-Trent this week. The memorial to Motörhead lead singer and bassist Lemmy, which has been given the backing of his estate and management company, will also mark 10 years since the musician's death at the age of 70 - and 50 since the band was formed. Local sculptor Andy Edwards has been working on the statue for the past three years.

Great article @PaulWilliams207 and as you say - one of a kind! I’m sure a Great Pottery Throwdown exhibition would hugely boost visitor numbers to the city! I’m all for that! #loveStoke

As it’s #PotteryThrowDown Sunday, a reminder this is ‘the only programme of its particular type rooted in a specific place and culture: in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, the home of British ceramics production since the 18th century.’ It’s time to put their pottery on show here! https://t.co/qogDROS05w
