AbstractComplete characterization of the genetic effects on gene expression is needed to elucidate tissue biology and the etiology of complex traits. In the present study, we analyzed 2,344 subcutaneous adipose tissue samples and identified 34,774 conditionally distinct expression quantitative trait locus (eQTL) signals at 18,476 genes. Over half of eQTL genes exhibited at least two eQTL signals.

INTRODUCTION Understanding long-term trends in biodiversity is essential to the conservation and management of biotic communities (Magurran et al., 2010), especially in highly fragmented ecosystems under intensifying pressure from climate change (Bennett et al., 2014; Mac Nally et al., 2009; Matthews, 2021; Matthews et al., 2014).

AbstractMost genome-wide association studies (GWAS) of major depression (MD) have been conducted in samples of European ancestry. Here we report a multi-ancestry GWAS of MD, adding data from 21 cohorts with 88,316 MD cases and 902,757 controls to previously reported data. This analysis used a range of measures to define MD and included samples of African (36% of effective sample size), East Asian (26%) and South Asian (6%) ancestry and Hispanic/Latin American participants (32%).

On August 10, 2023, the government of Canada released draft Clean Electricity Regulations [PDF] (CER) for public comment. The final CER are anticipated to be registered under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA) in 2024 and come into force on January 1, 2025. The CER limit carbon emissions produced by electricity generated using fossil fuel in an effort to ultimately eliminate emitting sources of supply connected to public electricity grids in Canada.
