That’s why Texas lawmakers are considering giving millions to a Waco-based company for their “Child ID kits.”However, some reports show the product doesn’t work. The Texas Tribune reports lawmakers have put millions of dollars in the general budget for child ID kits. The paper reports that legislators quietly cut funding for the ID kits two years ago after a report by the Texas Tribune and ProPublica showed they didn’t work.

WACO, Texas (KXXV) — McLennan County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man who was allegedly confronting suspected pedophiles and live-streaming it on Facebook. Investigators arrested Akylon Benson, the executive director of Waco PED Patrol and the administrator of Facebook, on unlawful restraint and violation of conditions of bond charges. The Facebook page says Waco PED Patrol is a group that fights for the safety and protection of kids in Waco and catches pedophiles throughout central Texas.

WACO, Texas (KXXV) — Texas lawmakers passed a bill allowing voters to decide on a new research facility to help deal with one of the fastest-growing diseases in the U.S.Texas ranks third in the nation in Alzheimer’s cases and second in deaths related to the disease, according to Texas Health and Human Services. A new bill, which passed the House and Senate, would provide 3 billion dollars to create the Dementia Prevention and Research Institute of Texas, or DPRIT.
