    A RYANAIR PASSENGER has received a €3,230 fine after causing disruption on a flight that led to it being diverted. The passenger was flying on FR4204 from Glasgow to Kraków on 30 June 2024. The flight was diverted to an airport in Rzeszów, another Polish city around 170km east of Kraków, after what Ryanair described as “inexcusable behaviour”. The aircraft was carrying 191 passengers and six crew members. The disruptive passenger was offloaded in Rzeszów.

    GARDAÍ HAVE HIT out at “completely inaccurate” misinformation that has been shared on social media relating to the death of Garda Kevin Flatley. The garda was killed on Sunday afternoon when he was struck by a motorbike while conducting a speed enforcement check on a road way at Lissenhall near Swords, Co Dublin. It is believed he was attempting to stop the motorcyclist when the collision happened.

    CABINET IS DISCUSSING a proposed package of reforms to the Leaving Certificate, which includes a clause that ties planned pay increases for teachers to them complying with the new changes. The government wants to implement several reforms to the Leaving Cert starting from this September, including more non-exam assessments like projects and practicals in select subjects.

    Service station company Applegreen is due to open Ireland’s first Taco Bell after striking a deal with the restaurant chain. It has not yet confirmed where the first Taco Bell will be located but said it will open this summer. More are expected to open at several Applegreen locations around the country over the next five years. Taco Bell was founded in California in 1962 and is one of the US’s most popular fast food chains.

    US PRESIDENT DONALD Trump has told Americans that he plans to compel pharmaceutical companies to lower the cost of prescription medications in the US, even if it means countries in Europe have to pay more. Addressing media at the White House, Trump criticised “Big Pharma” for what he described as “profiteering” and charging higher prices for prescriptions in the US than they do elsewhere in the world.
