A Beverly Grove neighborhood that has been dealing with squatters living in three abandoned apartment buildings was given a glimpse of hope that their problems would be solved on Friday. The residents say that their usually quiet street has been hit with a rash of fights, fires and people using drugs because of the nearly 20 people squatting in the vacant buildings. "I just feel like we are going in a circle calling the cops," resident Anita Cavallo said.

Some Beverly Grove residents are expressing their concerns over a group of abandoned apartment buildings that have been overtaken by squatters. They say that their usually quiet street has been hit with a rash of fights, fires and people using drugs because of the nearly 20 people that took up house in the vacant buildings at the corner of Flores Street and W. Third Street. "It's horrible and it's very scary," said Lauren Green, who lives near the complex of apartments.

A face-to-face encounter with federal immigration agents has left Montebello man Brian Gavidia shaken and unable to sleep at night. Gavida said he was working at a tow yard on W. Olympic Boulevard in Montebello when he heard immigration agents were outside. An agent approached him when he stepped outside. Gavida said he told the officers he was an American citizen three times before they tried to detain him. "East Los Angeles born and raised, ma'am," he recalled telling an agent. "I am American.

Los Angeles County deputies arrested a juvenile connected to the constant fireworks explosions that have frustrated Santa Clarita neighbors. The juvenile was arrested by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Arson/Explosives Detail. Santa Clarita neighbors said they have called 911 dozens of times over the last five years because of the fireworks, but have not seen any action from law enforcement until now.

The father of Guy Edward Bartkus is speaking out after news that his son is the person investigators believe to be the suspect in the bombing at a Palm Springs fertility clinic on Saturday. Richard Bartkus says that he hasn’t spoken to his 25-year-old son in more than a decade and that he is not the person he remembers. “He tried to help people,” Bartkus said of his son.
