The Belle Vernon Area School District notified parents on Friday about another case of pertussis, also known as whooping cough, at Rostraver Elementary School. School administrators sent a letter to parents, letting families know there has been a third case of whooping cough confirmed by state health officials.

Team Rubicon is a humanitarian organization that helps disaster survivors nationwide. In the days and weeks after the April 29th storms hit the Pittsburgh area, more than 30 trained volunteers hit the ground running, providing tree work, roof tarping and vegetative debris removal services across the region.

Four teens were shot in Mercer County late Monday night. Two 18-year-old men, a 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman were at a house party on Baldwin Avenue in Sharon when one or more suspects shot into the home, according to Sharon Police. All four victims were taken to the hospital and are expected to be okay. Sharon Police said they are working to investigate this incident and identify the suspect or suspects involved in this shooting.

Crews have started the process of installing new technology along Route 28 off-ramps, which PennDOT said will help to detect drivers going the wrong way and is intended to save lives. Plenty of drivers who travel Route 28 frequently told Channel 11 they don’t mind seeing work being done off the Millvale exit this week. In fact, they’re embracing it. “Excellent. I think it’s a great deal. These things happen far too often,” said Steve Dzvonick of Aspinwall.
