    NLE Choppa, a rapper known for “SLUT ME OUT” and “Shotta Flow,” will headline this year’s Homecoming concert on Oct. 19. The concert will take place on McDonough Field and doors will open at 6:30 p.m.Student Programming Council (SPC) announced the lineup to Emory University students in an Instagram post today. SPC Presidents Howie Brown (26C) and Sophia Callender (25B) wrote in an email to The Emory Wheel that they are “super thrilled” to have NLE Choppa perform this year.

    Emory Students for Justice in Palestine (ESJP), Emory Stop Cop City, Emory Students for Socialism and Emory Divest Coalition, among other groups, hosted an Oct. 8 memorial on the Emory University Quadrangle to commemorate and mourn the lives lost in Gaza and Lebanon. Over 100 people attended the event, which included speeches, prayers, fundraising and craft-making. Many attendees dressed in black mourning attire and donned keffiyehs.

    Oxford College is launching a new fall study abroad program for first-years, Oxford Launch in London, starting fall 2025. Oxford is partnering with nonprofit study abroad organization Institute for the International Education of Students (IES Abroad), according to International Student Programs Senior Director Daphne Orr.

    Oxford College announced this morning that classes would be remote today due to fog and smoke from the BioLab plant that caught fire in Conyers, Ga. on Sept. 29. In-person classes and work schedules are set to resume tomorrow, but if the administration decides to extend the remote schedule, the College will email an announcement to the Oxford community at 7 a.m. tomorrow morning.

    A BioLab plant in Conyers, Ga. caught fire earlier today, causing an orange and gray smoke plume to rise above the facility about six miles from Oxford College. No one was injured in the fire, according to a BioLab representative. Rockdale County Fire Chief Marian McDaniel said a sprinkler head malfunctioned and caused water to mix with a water-reactive chemical around 5 a.m. this morning.
