Andrew Call will be the new dean of the Leventhal School of Accounting effective September 1, the Marshall School of Business announced in a press release July 22. He will succeed William Holder who is retiring after a 13 year tenure in the role. “It’d be an honor to join this faculty in any role. To join as the dean is a huge opportunity, a unique challenge,” Call said in the press release.

The USC women’s beach volleyball team was one of the 90 NCAA National Championship teams celebrated Monday at NCAA Sports Day in the White House. The team’s visit to the White House has become an annual tradition, capturing their fourth consecutive National Collegiate beach volley championship this past season. Finishing with an overall record of 37-5, the Trojans defeated crosstown rival the UCLA Bruins in a three-set sweep, winning their record sixth title in eight years.

Nearly 200,000 homes remained without electricity Tuesday after Hurricane Beryl hit ground in the Houston area last week. The tropical storm landed on the morning of July 8, flooding roads and highways and knocking over power lines. Alex Buettgen, a junior studying communications and real estate development, returned home from a family vacation to find trees all over his neighborhood uprooted, branches and debris littering every lawn.
New campus access point opened on Exposition Boulevard

An additional access point to campus at Exposition Boulevard and Pardee Way opened Monday to all pedestrians and vehicles with reserved parking on Childs Way. The entrance will be open weekdays from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., the Office of the Senior Vice President for Administration announced in a university-wide email sent June 14.

Former USC employee Zachary Ellison recently authored a petition demanding USC release a statement on the death of USC gynecologist George Tyndall before he could stand trial for alleged sexual abuse. Ellison graduated with a Master’s in public administration from USC in 2015 and was hired shortly after as the Executive Secretary of Academic Operations for the Office of the Provost until August of 2022.
