LAURIE EVERETTMain Street MediaThe Mt. Juliet Board of Commissioners approved on first reading a 137-unit residential development located on 35.71 acres on Central Pike at its meeting Monday night. The vote was 4-0 with Mayor James Maness absent. Second reading is scheduled for the BOC’s June 9 meeting. The May 19 meeting has been cancelled. The project, known as Tillman Place, is on the north side of Central Pike and to the west of Pleasant Grove Road.

A preliminary plan of the Mt. Juliet rec center that architect Sam Anderson presented to the Board of Commissioners on Monday. The Mt. Juliet Board of Commissioners held a public workshop session Monday night to discuss financial pieces of a planned recreation/aquatic center. Leading up to this workshop the City held three public meetings, formed a committee, then held three committee meetings, all with public input.

The plan lists 18 locations with a high crash rate primarily along Lebanon Road, S. Mt. Juliet Road and Providence Parkway. Traffic calming measures and speed management could be considered for those areas.
