    New musical Austen's Pride will release a live cast recording of its one-night-only concert at Carnegie Hall, held last year. Featuring a book, music, and lyrics by Lindsay Warren Baker and Amanda Jacobs with orchestrations by the latter, Austen's Pride puts a musical spin on the Jane Austen novel Pride and Prejudice. But, there's another twist: Jane Austen enters her own love story, going on a journey that shows her there's more to the story—and herself.

    As the new year gets underway, the Fringe Society has officially opened show applications for this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which will run August 2-26. Taking place every August, the festival is a veritable cornucopia of theatre; last year's festival comprised 3,535 shows. In order to register with The Fringe Society, artists must already have a venue contract in place. To be included in the first on-sale date February 22, artists must submit registration by February 5.

    The York Theatre Company is honoring Patti LuPone with the 2023 Oscar Hammerstein Award for Outstanding Achievement in Musical Theater. The three-time Tony winner receives the award at the company's 31st Oscar Hammerstein Gala November 13, which is also honoring producer Jamie deRoy with the company's Founders' Award. The gala is being held at The Edison Rooftop.

    The National Theatre's production of The Ocean at the End of the Lane return to London's West End at the Noël Coward Theatre beginning October 11. The seven-week encore run, which follows a U.K. and Ireland tour, will continue through November 25. Joel Horwood adapted the Neil Gaiman novel, the work's first major stage adaptation. Magic and memory blend in this story about a childhood that was once forgotten. 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the novel's publication.
