    Local News THE Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) has launched investigations into the cause of 19 hippopotamus deaths recorded in the Sapi Safari Area and Chirundu, along the Zambezi Valley, over the last three months.  In a statement on Tuesday, ZimParks spokesperson Tinashe Farawo said they have roped in other stakeholders to assist in investigating the hippo deaths in the Zambezi Valley.

    THREE police officers were this week sentenced to 30 months imprisonment for extortion by a Rusape magistrates. In a statement on Tuesday, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said a tip-off was received by the three officers ‑ Shepherd Muzvidza (36), Justice Chaka (37) and Trust Mudzitirwa (39) ‑ that the complainant, who is not named, had illegally bypassed a Zesa meter.

    ONE student from Nyangani High School in Nyanga died on the spot while 15 others were injured after a minibus carrying them to President Emmerson Mnangagwa's meeting at Magamba Training Centre in Mutasa district overturned along the Mutare-Juliasdale Road on Thursday. According to police, the Toyota Hiace vehicle veered off the road and landed on its side, killing one of the students on the spot.

    THE Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) has offered a US$2 000 reward to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of poachers who shot and beheaded three lions in Hwange National Park early this week. This comes as ZimParks has dispatched a special probe team to investigate the incident.
