GWANDA April 1 (NewsDay Live)- The Zimbabwe Mining Safety Health Environmental Council (Zimshec has described the death of Insiza legislator and miner Farai Taruvinga as a huge loss to the sector and the people of Matabeleland South province as a whole. Taruvinga died at his Hillside home in Bulawayo on Sunday after a long battle with cancer. He was 53. Taruvinga operated several gold mines in the province where he employed hundreds of workers.

BEITBRIDGE, Mar 24 (Newsday Live) – Beitbridge police have arrested a traditional healeron allegations of raping and impregnating a 13-year-old child from his neighbourhood in the Chamnanga Village in Beitbridge. Acting on a tip-off from a concerned villager, police pounced on the polygamous traditional healer on Monday morning. "We have made the arrest after a worried villager alerted us. The suspect is expected in court soon and we commend this villager who tipped us.

Local News HARARE 30 March (Newsday Live) Veteran journalist Geoffrey Nyarota has died aged 74. He died in Harare after a long illness. His death was confirmed by his son, according to reports. Nyarota, also an author of note with several published books, is famous for his exposure of the 1980s Willogate Scandal when he worked with journalist Tichaona Mkuku at the State run Chronicle.

HARARE, March 12, (NewsDayLive) - A cross-border truck driver was struck by a machete and robbed at a treacherous detour that has taken ages to complete between Rutenga and Ngundu on the highway from Beitbridge to Harare. Apparently, that stretch of the road was declared complete by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in 2024. The driver from Mother Truckers, only identified as a Swazi national, had 20 centimetre sutures administered on him at Beitbridge Rural District Hospital.

BEITBRIDGE, March March (Newsday Live) A 48 year-old Zimbabwean man was on Tuesday arrested on the South African side of Beitbridge Border Post on allegations of smuggling R618 200 worth of explosives from Zimbabwe. The arrest was made during a routine profiling and search of cross-border haulage trucks, according to a South African Police Service ( Saps) press release Wednesday.
