For almost 100 years, the festival has shared the legacy of lei. The day honor Hawaii's culture through mele (music), hula (dance) and most importantly artistry and aloha portrayed in each pua (flowers) and la'au (plants) that are put together in wearable works of art. Beyond its beauty what a lei symbolizes is love.

Lau has even flexed her directing skills calling the shots of an episode of network TV series, Rescue: HI Surf.
