HANOVER — Norwell senior captain Will Bostrom saved his best act for last against rival Hanover. In the second overtime, Bostrom scored on an 8-yard run and then took a direct snap for the winning 2-point conversion in the 15-13 victory. “With this rain coming down, my stomach hungry, I was just ready for some food,” Bostrom joked. “It’s incredible, we got booted out of the playoffs, but as a senior, we had one last game to finish it up and end things the right way.

Senior running back Sean Kilty blasted in from the 1-yard line with 56 seconds remaining to power the second-seeded Stoneham football team to a Division 6 first-round win over No. 15 Oakmont, 28-21, Saturday afternoon at Woburn High. Kilty scored a pair of touchdown runs, with his 1-yard plunge lifting the Spartans (8-1) to the next round of the MIAA football playoffs. Stoneham will host No. 7 Swampscott (7-2) in a quarterfinal matchup at Woburn High with time and date to be determined.

In a back-and-forth thriller featuring five lead changes, junior Nick Ilsley punched in a 4-yard touchdown run on fourth down with 4:40 remaining as Andover rallied from an 11-point halftime deficit for a 24-21 nonleague victory over host Brockton, the 100th career win for coach EJ Perry. “I was telling everybody, it shows my age. I was hyping it up about how I wanted to go down to Rocky Marciano Stadium, because my brother had coached at Northeastern with Tommy Colombo.

The Joseph Mason Cup is staying at TechBoston after the Bears topped Latin Academy, 32-26, in a Boston City League matchup at Roberts Playground Friday afternoon. Senior Josiah Gillard had a hand in three touchdowns, rushing for one, and classmate Xavier Landrum had 20 carries for 155 yards, helping TechBoston drain the clock in the fourth quarter.
