SUFFOLK, Va. — The city of Suffolk has allotted funding in the 2025-2026 fiscal budget for school resource officers (SROs) in Suffolk Public Schools' elementary schools. Sean McGee, the vice chair of the Suffolk School Board, tells News 3 the school board approved to have SROs in the school district's 11 elementary schools. He says next school year, each elementary school will have four SROs."We requested 11 SROs for every elementary school.

Virginia Beach police attempted to pull over Johnny Bernard Sharp, 47, for issues with his license plates, only to discover he was wanted for a probation violation. Instead of stopping, police say Sharp ran away and jumped into the frigid Lake Edward near Newtown Road.

NORFOLK, Va. — With growing inflation, Dominion Energy is proposing price hikes that could go into effect this year. The utility company says they must raise their base prices to keep up with the rising costs of supplies and equipment. Customers say they are not pleased to hear this. "It’s insane," Maureen Scott, a customer said. "Things are already more expensive than they should be. Electricity shouldn’t be one of them," Wayne Lee, a customer said.
