Twenty-one-year-old Isaac del Toro arrived in Durres, Albania, in early May as a young rider racing his first ever Giro d'Italia. Days later, the calm and cool del Toro was once again being compared to Tadej Pogačar, his dominating teammate who swept two out of three Grand Tours last year, and whom many consider to be the greatest cyclist of all time. Now, del Toro leads the Giro d'Italia, one of cycling's most prestigious races, with only two days until finishing in Rome, the Giro’s endpoint.

Employees at the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) are facing layoffs, a spokesperson for LAHSA confirmed. In total, 11 staff members received layoff notices earlier this year, according to Ahmad Chapman, LAHSA’s director of communications. The homeless services agency currently has more than 750 people on staff. Chapman declined to specify the job titles of the affected employees. “To respect the affected staff’s privacy, we will not be releasing the job titles at this time,” he said.

The California Attorney General’s Post Conviction Justice Unit (PCJU) has finally started reviewing claims of factual innocence, more than two years after they made a promise to do so. The unit will review claims of factual innocence prosecuted by the Department of Justice (DOJ), and in certain cases, other prosecution agencies in California, according to the AG’s website.

In 2021, the Los Angeles City Council approved an ambitious plan to bring dozens of charging stations and low-cost electric cars to South L.A., a community in desperate need of more affordable and environmentally-friendly transportation options. Four years later, however, not a single station has been built in South Los Angeles. And the program that was expected to bring these electric cars and stations to the region has ended.
