    Did you know that charity work doesn’t have to be boring or laborious? In fact, you can do it from the comfort of your home. I came to this realization when I saw a BullsConnect poster advertising for Crafts 4 Charity, a local crocheting club that focuses on building community through arts and craft. They needed volunteers to crochet for that week’s theme, which was sea animals. To fit the theme, I made a crochet jellyfish that would soon be donated to a shelter.

    As an English Literature major, I’m no stranger to having to read books that lack appeal to me. But I’ve learned how to stifle my agony, and read on. There are many books that are deemed must-reads by literary fanatics, ranging from young adult novels to English classics. Like many other readers, I tend to gravitate towards these popular novels that are raved about on social media.

    Candace Braun Davison is a former Oracle Editor in Chief. She worked at the newsroom from spring 2006 through fall 2009. Now, Braun is the vice president of editorial content at PureWow, where she oversees lifestyle stories and special projects for the brand. In 2023, she won USF’s Outstanding Young Alumni Award. Calling USF’s student newspaper The Oracle is all too fitting; for many, like myself, it set the course of our careers.

    Wireless earbuds, noise-canceling headphones or the good-old-fashioned wired ones – pick your poison. Wherever you are on campus, it’s uncommon to find a USF student without some sort of type of headphones whether attached to their backpack, around their necks or on their ears. I’ve found that most students would rather go without pen and paper than not have their headphones.

    Picture this. Slip N’ Slides lathered with dish soap, popsicles melting as soon as they see sunlight, the pop of flip flops, the smell of the next door neighbor grilling hamburgers, cicadas singing like their life depends on it. Did summer come to mind? As a senior in college, I’m aware that this will no longer be the lasting image that I think of when someone mentions the summertime. This is my last summer free from the chains of work or responsibility.
