Since December, I have been seeing lists of ins and outs for the upcoming year. These lists can be about trends, personal resolutions or simply hot takes on popular culture. Personally, my ins are becoming a better writer and slowing down. Addiction, particularly to technology, and being judgemental of others are my outs.

New year, but not a new me. Every year is the same. I want to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle but instead I find myself in the same scenario. I place myself in a 1,200 calorie limit and find myself disappointed when I realize I’m only allotted 200 calories for dinner. Related: USF students, enjoy your ‘freshman 15’I thought I was “healthy” because I was staying within my calorie limit but instead I was starving, tired and irritable.

It may sound contradictory, but logging off social media is a new online trend. The algorithms have been telling me the anti-social media movement is all the rage and I have recently hopped on the bandwagon myself. Going offline is also a hot topic among Florida legislators with the “Online Protections for Minors” (H.B. 3) that has come into effect. This law bans users under the age of 14 from having accounts on all social media platforms.

The last thing college students want to do is to cook after a long day of classes. It is understandable why we gravitate towards simple options, like macaroni and cheese or pizza, to satisfy our hunger.
