A B.C. man convicted of committing sex crimes against female clients while working as a laser hair removal technician has lost his bid for an exemption from the requirement to register as a sex offender. Ali Aghasardar pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault and one count of voyeurism last year and was handed a one-year conditional sentence order followed by one year of probation.

Flushing wipes down the toilet instead of tossing them in the trash causes millions of dollars in damage to Metro Vancouver’s sewers each year. In order to combat the problem, the regional district has launched what it calls an “adult toilet training campaign” to remind people wipes belong in the garbage. “Just because you’re an adult doesn’t mean your toilet training is over.

The Pattullo bridge will be completely closed to vehicle traffic over the long weekend, according to the contractor responsible for construction on the busy crossing. The closure will take effect on Friday, May 16 at 9 p.m. and reopen on Tuesday, May 20 at 5 a.m. “Excavation will be taking place across the roadways, blocking access to the bridge, and bridge lanes will be occupied by equipment to complete the work,” a notice from Fraser Crossing Partners says.

Vancouver won’t be getting a floating spa aboard a converted World War Two barge anytime soon, according to the company behind the plan. HAVN, which has been operating in Victoria’s Inner Harbour since 2023, announced its plans to expand to the Lower Mainland earlier this year after acquiring a second derelict ship to transform.

The Abbotsford Police Department is out with a warning about a new credit scam after receiving several recent reports in the city. In a social media post Monday, the department said the scam starts with a fraudster – posing as a representative of a credit card company – who tells the would-be victim their card has been compromised. “The scammer instructs them to cut up the card but leave the chip intact. Shortly after, a driver is sent to collect the cut-up card,” the warning from police said.
