One thing that hits you when visiting New York is the sheer energy of the place. Yellow cabs zooming along the roads, steam rising up beside the pavement (or should that be the sidewalk?), and the sheer crowds of residents and tourists navigating their way around the skyscrapers. Maybe it’s the sheer volume of people, marching around the city’s grid system like Pac Man on a mission. Maybe it's the dizzyingly tall buildings that compress everyone in.
