    The biggest names in the Irish Screen industry will arrive back home to Dublin this weekend for the Irish Academy Awards hosted by Kevin McGahern this Friday, 14th February. The awards honour exceptional achievements in Film and Drama across 29 categories from the past year. The 22nd-anniversary IFTA Awards Ceremony is taking place on Friday, February 14th, 2025, at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre.

    The Belfast rap group, who last August released their comedy-drama Kneecap set in the Northern Irish capital, received 17 nominations. These included for best film, director and script, among others, as well as each of the members, Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh; Naoise Ó Cairealláin; JJ Ó Dochartaigh getting the nod for lead actor. The trio are joined by Gladiator II star Paul Mescal, who starred in Ridley Scott’s sequel to the 2001 Academy Award-winning action movie.
