The Belles of the American Royal (BOTAR) have been supporting agriculture education in Kansas City for the past 75 years, and it’s about time we celebrated. They’re breaking out the bubbly and their coveted collection of historic gowns for Cocktails and Couture, a night of fashion and history on February 29.  The gown collection dates back to 1949 and is widely acknowledged for its quality and historical significance. BOTAR is one of the only organizations in the country to have one of this size.

Audrey Boese has found forever homes for over 1,800 cats in the first five years of opening Whiskers Cat Café and Coffeehouse. Located at 3705 Southwest Trafficway near Westport, Whiskers is the cozy home for a steady stream of adoptable cats, housing between 15 to 20 each week. Boese’s interest in the business was sparked by a trip to a cat café in Denver. “It was full of people and cats; it was one of the coolest things we’d ever seen,” says Boese.

For over a decade, a small team of devoted volunteers has been working diligently to showcase adoptable dogs through professional photography. Kasi Orr of Reames Photography and Lindsay Lack of Lindsay J.C. Lack Photo Studio, two long-time volunteers and photographers, have been around since the early days, with Orr’s involvement starting around 2013 and Lack joining the team in April 2015.
