Highlights•Little attention has been paid to how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the lives of children with paediatric obesity from the perspectives of children themselves. •Having multiple options and full access to age- and gender-based activities with peers, in and outside children's homes, in a safe environment could have supported children's (mental) wellbeing and health and helped prevent weight gain and unhealthy behaviour.
