Brisbane City Council's Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner says homeless people will be given 24 hours to leave the city's parks. Councillor Schrinner said the decision was made after the City of Moreton Bay made homeless camping a crime on public land. "We saw reports that homeless encampments in Moreton Bay were closing down and moving to Brisbane, and we won't allow that to happen," Cr Schrinner said.

Brisbane's "cheaper" alternative to an underground metro now costs more than the original plan due to repeated budget blowouts. On Monday, Brisbane City Council revealed its bendy banana bus project, Brisbane Metro, had blown out to $1.55 billion. The 2016 Brisbane Metro plan, originally conceived as a rapid subway network connected by a series of underground stations, was budgeted for $1.54 billion.

Brisbane's lord mayor has refused to return power to two homeless camps, vowing to crack down even harder on "anti-social behaviour" at the tent cities. It comes after Brisbane City Council cut power to Kurilpa Point Park and Musgrave Park, leaving the homeless without public barbecues or electrical outlets. Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the council had received "hundreds and hundreds" of complaints from residents about fighting, fires, and anti-social behaviour in the parks.
