A busy A road has been closed by police following a "concern for safety". Drivers were urged to avoid the area around the A610 in Ripley on Thursday night (May 8). Derbyshire Police confirmed a stretch of the route was shut at around 5.15pm. Motorists were asked to use alternative routes. An initial update from police said: "The A610 in Ripley is closed between the A38 roundabout and the McDonald's roundabout due to a concern for safety for a man.

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed to death in a Derby city centre bank this afternoon, police said. The man, who was a customer, was assaulted inside the Lloyds bank in St Peter’s Street at around 2.35pm today (May 6). Emergency services were called out to St Peter's Street in Derby city centre on Tuesday afternoon to attend what was initially described as a "serious incident".

An e-fit image has been issued by police after a woman was reportedly sexually assaulted by a man who asked to borrow tea bags. Kent Police said a suspect knocked on the door of a property in Dover. He then reportedly entered the property and inappropriately touched a woman over her clothing. The victim pushed the man out of the property and closed the door. It happened between 3 and 4pm on Sunday, December 8 in the Tower Hamlets area of the town.

A drug dealer found with cocaine in his shoe told police he was visiting Tunbridge Wells for a holiday. Adrian Badea claimed he was sightseeing across the south east - but he was actually working for an organised crime group. Officers approached the 27-year-old's vehicle on March 23, 2023, as it was parked in the Fountains Retail Park. The black BMW had been linked to suspicious activity and Badea, from Crewe, was in the driver's seat.

Officers descended on a Grantham street following reports of a "gun" and a "potential altercation" at an address. Police were at the scene in Tamar Court at just after 5.30pm on Monday (January 13). Lincolnshire Police said firearms officers attended "for the safety of those at the address, officers and the wider public". The force said there was no risk to members of the public. It added that the incident had now been "safely contained" as of 5.50pm. Two people have been arrested.

Police have made an arrest after power was cut to homes in Kent and an electricity cable stolen. Kent Police said the incident saw eight metres of cable taken from UK Power Networks generator. Officers were called to a report of cable theft in Shacklands Road, Shoreham at just after 4.50pm on Tuesday (January 7). They followed a suspected stolen van from the scene.
