Gurvider Singh Johal was pronounced dead at the scene. A well-loved restaurant owner and "devoted family man" has been named as the victim of a fatal stabbing in a bank yesterday. Gurvider Singh Johal, was pronounced dead at the scene after a horror attack inside Lloyd's Bank in Derby city centre. Emergency crews raced to the bank around 2.30pm yesterday afternoon, with an air ambulance called scrambled to attend following reports of an injured male.

He is understood to be known to friends as Danny, although his real name is Gurvinder Singh Johal, and he owns and runs the Hen and Chickens Bar and Grill restaurant in Shelton Lock.

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed to death in a Derby city centre bank this afternoon, police said. The man, who was a customer, was assaulted inside the Lloyds bank in St Peter’s Street at around 2.35pm today (May 6). Emergency services were called out to St Peter's Street in Derby city centre on Tuesday afternoon to attend what was initially described as a "serious incident".
